About Col du Jour

  • Col du Jour is a bicycle hillclimb resource that profiles the characteristics of bicycle hillclimbs around the world such as begining elevation, finish elevation, distance, grade, etc. We quantify each hillclimb by assigning a value to each climb called the climb rating. With this rating we can estimate the time a professional bicycle racer would complete the climb riding a bicycle.
  • Any one can submit a climb for consideration to the bicycle hillclimb database.
  • Subscribers may enter their own ride times to establish a handicap called a "Q", a comparison of the individual's ride time and the estimated professional time.
  • Subscribers may write articles, blog, and upload photographs.
  • This site encourages subscribers to contribute content in a variety of categories related to your bicycling such as your club or team. Other areas include advocacy, merchants, or coaching.
